Covid update:

We are pleased to report that Seven Gables remains Covid free! Indoor visits have started taking place in the small lounge at the front of the Home. We have welcomed back a number of familiar faces and it has been really lovely to witness the residents reactions to seeing their loved ones again after such a long time.

Although these visits are still being carried out following government guidelines we all feel that it is definitely a step in the right direction.

Our Activities Coordinator has put together a number of exciting things for our residents to get involved. The games were a huge hit and everyone had lots of fun! Our residents also had the chance to take part in some reminiscence sessions where we give them the chance to sit and reflect and share their life experiences with each other. We get as much enjoyment out of this as our residents do – it is lovely to hear them talking about their younger days and what growing up was like for them.

Music and Film Days:

The last couple of weeks of April here in the Isle of Wight have begun with grey morning and no sunshine in the afternoons,  so we have been keeping our residents spirits up with lots of games, music and film days. On the odd occasion that the sun made an appearance, we have enjoyed sitting our in the garden in small groups whilst admiring the lovely spring flowers and plants that have blossomed during the recent months and, of course, keeping a close eye on the fish in the pond.

We always take the opportunity to celebrate residents and staff Birthday’s although April has been a quiet month with only one Birthday celebrated. We did this our usual way with cake and treats for everyone.

We are looking forward to more restrictions being lifted over the coming months and hopefully a warm Summer with plenty of activities and time spent outside taking in our beautiful surroundings.

We hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

Regards from us all at Seven Gables.
