At Belmont this week we have had lots of Easter events going on. On the 11th the residents of Belmont had an Easter party, 6 Residents sat outside on a beautiful sunny day and had lunch, listening to Dementia-friendly music and eating LOTS of chocolate. – It’s Easter, why not???

On Monday to finish events of we had a small Easter tea Party, any excuse to eat more yummy food, we had wine and non-alcohol sparkly wine too. As always, the food and cakes went down well, and everyone enjoyed it. – It is Easter after all!  In the afternoon we also had the second Easter egg hunt, which was predominantly in the garden. We had a busy evening with lots of laughs.

In fact, we have spent most of the week in the garden enjoying the sunshine, playing games and looking at the flowers. We have found that residents really enjoy sitting on the Belmont memorial bench having a chat, watching the world go by and more often than not, observing the fish in the pond as well.

We played a few Easter games with a large inflatable bunny. Residents had to throw rings onto the bunnies’ ears everyone who took part enjoyed it and were better than us as we could not do it.

Belmont Residents also enjoyed a Movie day in the main lounge with some old favourites like The Wizard of Oz enjoyed. We had popcorn and of course their favourite ice cream to really give the feel of a day at the Movies!

Sensory time was a wonderfully calming experience for all in the extension lounge. Here we had the sounds of the sea and seagulls playing while using sand, shells and pebbles from the beach to touch and feel. This proved very relaxing for all involved!

A breathing and movement session, based on Chi Kung, was held in the dining area.

Sunday brought another of these sessions, the residents taking part benefited from the increased flexibility and calmness, which this exercise brings.

Hymn singing was enjoyed in the extension lounge and main lounge. It has to be said that some of our residents have the voices of angels!

During the global pandemic, our residents have also had help making our very own rainbow, made with our own Belmont Hands. As we are still unable to see family members, we sent cards, letters and pictures to loved ones, even a few FaceTime videos!!

Its been a busy week at Belmont, and the smiles and afternoon naps confirm that a good time has been had by all!
