Festive Times at Moorfields Care Home in Bury, Greater Manchester
At Moorfields Care Home in Bury, Greater Manchester we have enjoyed lots of festive activities throughout December. It was a very different festive season compared to normal. Moorfields Colleagues made sure that we all enjoyed ourselves. We had a fantastic time! See our lovely home at churchlakecare.com/moorfields-care-home-in-bury/
December was spent preparing for Christmas by making lots of lovely Christmas decorations. We enjoyed making some paper snowflakes with the staff but it all got a bit competitive of whose was better! We enjoyed looking at our beautiful creations displayed around the home. These, for certain, made us feel a little more festive.
We also spent December enjoying lots of festive nibbles. We kept the mince pie companies in business this year! The staff kept us going with lots of other treats.
We enjoyed listening and singing along to lots of Christmassy songs throughout the month. The staff tried their hardest to join in with us but we think they should stick to their day jobs! They aren’t Doris Day but we appreciate their efforts!
Father Christmas visits Moorfields Care Home in Bury, Greater Manchester
We enjoyed a visit from Father Christmas himself on Christmas eve. He brought with him by Mrs Claus and a very cheeky elf! He spent time with each of us and gave us an early present. We each had our photographs taken with him and this was a morning of laughter and joy. It boosted spirits and every one of us had a smile on our faces.
The Big Day itself at Moorfields Care Home in Bury, Greater Manchester
On Christmas day, we all enjoyed opening our wonderful gifts. We had some lovely gifts donated by the local community. These really brought a smile to our faces and we cannot thank every person who donated gifts enough. We had plenty of presents from our wonderful families. We are now over run with chocolates, toiletries and socks! – I mean, would it really be Christmas if you didn’t get a pair of socks? We enjoyed a beautiful turkey dinner on Christmas day. The delicious meal was accompanied by roasties, mash potato, and veggies including Brussel sprouts, of course! Not forgetting, lashings of gravy. We were all full to the brim! An afternoon nap was required before we tucked into a gorgeous buffet on Christmas night.
It was lovely to speak to our families over the telephone, via video call and during window visits. It really isn’t the same as we are used to, but we understand that all of the staff and our families are doing everything they can to keep us safe.
Boxing Day Delights
On boxing day we all enjoyed tucking into the delicious treats that we had received from our families. We listened to some festive tunes – we didn’t want the day to end!
New Years Day special Lunch
On New Years day we were treated to the most fantastic Lamb dinner – it was tender and delicious. The home smelled amazing and we were all waiting for the 12 o’clock ding of the clock – dinner time! Everybody cleared their plates and even left room for some gorgeous pudding!
Although this Christmas has been different, our staff have worked tirelessly to ensure we all had a fantastic time. We would like to thank the staff for all their hard work over the last year, in what has been a very testing time.
