Our ladies and gents enjoyed helping (supervising) the staff putting our beautiful Christmas decorations, we put these up a little later than planned but, as they say its fashionable to be late! The home felt warm and Christmassy and everything was sparkling and covered in glitter, including the staff.
Our residents have enjoyed making their own festive decorations throughout December. We made some beautiful Christmas chains, personalised wreaths, and wonderful pictures. The residents really enjoyed doing this.
Thoughtful cards from local primary school children raised spirits
The residents received some wonderful handmade cards from a local school with beautiful messages and well-wishes from such thoughtful primary school children. The residents really enjoyed reading these cards. We displayed them throughout the home.
Activities and festive fun at Elizabeth House in Bury, Greater Manchester
Throughout December our residents enjoyed lots of festive singalongs and we were lucky enough to win a competition for a ticket to a virtual pantomime. The show as a Christmas Carol. It was enjoyed by all, alongside lots of festive nibbles.
On Christmas eve, we had a visit from the fat man himself, alongside Mrs Claus and a mischievous elf. Our residents enjoyed receiving an early Christmas gift and having a photo opportunity with Father Christmas himself. Not one to gossip but, Father Christmas as piled the weight on recently!
The Big Day itself!
On Christmas day, we all enjoyed a beautiful full English breakfast. We then set about opening the mountains of presents received for our ladies and gents. The residents really enjoyed opening their fantastic gifts! We then had a fantastic Christmas lunch. Turkey with all the trimmings! Not forgetting the Christmas pudding served with brandy cream! Everybody was full to the brim but, still managed to make room for lots of chocolates and treats whilst watching the Christmas specials on the TV. Residents enjoyed speaking to their loved ones on the telephone, via video call and during some window visits. We cannot thank the families of our ladies and gents enough for their understanding and support during what has been such a testing time for us all but, especially during the festive period.
We enjoyed tucking into our festive treats over the next coming days, watching movies, playing bingo and enjoying spending time together. In the run up to new year, our ladies and gents have enjoyed making some more decorations ready for new year. Again, there was plenty of glitter! We made a huge mess but was definitely fun in doing so.
Bringing in the new year with hope and Buck’s Fizz!
We had a fantastic New Year’s Eve party with plenty of music, dancing and singing along to classic party music. Residents enjoyed a fantastic buffet. Packed with lots of delicious party food for all to enjoy. We made a toast to our loved ones with a nice glass of fizzy bucks’ fizz.
On New Years days we had a beautiful lamb dinner. We all sat together – laughing, singing, and just enjoying ourselves. It was a lovely start to the new year. It was very special to share this time together.
We hope that everyone enjoyed the festive season. It has been very different to what we are all used to. We really hope to see you all properly in the new year. We would like to send best wishes to each and everyone of you from us all at Elizabeth House.
