The weather has been so beautiful during May and we have spent a lot of time in our lovely garden with an ice cream and cold drink in hand.
Throughout May and the beginning of June we have been outside enjoying the sunshine! The residents have been catching some rays in the garden whilst listening to old seaside tunes and pretending they are at the beach!
Personalising our garden
Now we are spending some more time in our garden, we have been making different things to personalise it. We have painted our own bird houses lots of wonderful bright colours. We have also painted our own plant pots, ready to plant some beautiful summer flowers when the time is right.
Our usual game of Bingo has proven very successful with our residents – there are so many prizes to choose from, they never know what to pick. From chocolate and sweets to bath goodies and more – it’s a bit like Christmas!
Michelle, our Hairdresser, has been coming in weekly and the residents are certainly enjoying having a lovely haircut and a bit of pampering. Mandy has been keeping our ladies’ nails looking gorgeous with her gel polish kit. It’s like being at a nail salon!
Fun and laughter
There is always a lot of music and laughter here at Elizabeth House. The sing a longs are a daily occurrence thanks to Esther and Helen, who keep the halls of Elizabeth House loud and full of love and laughter with their beautiful singing voices.
All of our residents have been involved in discussions with the kitchen staff who are busy preparing our summer menu. The residents have been suggesting really tasty treats that will be enjoyed throughout the Summer, including salads, ice cream sundaes and barbecue nights. What great ideas! We would invite you all but, we don’t think there will be any left!
If you haven’t already seen them, please take a look at the wonderful videos made for our website for both Elizabeth House and our sister home Moorfields. They really are wonderful. We would like to thank our wonderful staff, visitors and residents for their efforts in making these videos so special.
We recently celebrated Jean’s birthday at the beginning of June . As usual it was a fun filled day with a buffet lunch, Birthday cake and decorations. We all had a wonderful time!
We would like to share a short poem with you by Douglas J Olson about the beach. The residents have lots of happy memories of times spent at the beach with their loved ones and this brought a smile to everyone’s faces.
“Emerald hills and turquoise seas
Endless canvas brushed with trees
That sway so gently in the hue
Of watercolor azure blue
Waves that ripple through my mind
Touch sun-kissed sugar sands of time
As whispered winds so softly sigh
A dreamlike lazy lullaby.”
We hope you all enjoyed reading our catch up for May! Take care everyone, with love from us all at Elizabeth House.
