Welcome to Hames Hall Care Home in Cockermouth

Hames Hall is a gracious country house of esteemed origins. Built around 1820, it was designed by Robert Smirke an eminent architect of the time, who also listed the extension to the British Museum amongst his greatest achievements along with more local constructions such as The Citadel in Carlisle’s city centre and Carlisle’s Eden Bridge.

Set within three acres of its own, the Hall sits behind open pasture land at the front with open and unbroken views over Cockermouth towards the Lakeland Fells from the garden at the rear. Hames Hall is located between Cockermouth and Papcastle, about ten minutes’ walk to the centre of Cockermouth.

About Hames Hall

Hames Hall’s 23 bedrooms are generally all afforded with either en suite showers or baths, and these are enhanced by the spacious wetroom on the ground floor and the soon to be provided easy access Jacuzzi bath which will be located in the first floor disabled bathroom. The house retains all the original period decorative features including ornate covings and panelled ceilings which are particularly prominent in the large lounge and the dining room. From here there are doors opening onto the terrace and at the back of the Home is a spacious conservatory and garden room with glorious views over the fells.
A full menu with a range of choices is served every day, with home cooked dishes using locally sourced ingredients. All tastes and diets are catered for. Read our reviews on CareHomes.co.uk
