Bonfire Night at Chichester Hall

November at Chichester Hall Care and Residential Home in Cumbria started dull and wet, but it went with a ‘BANG’ on the 5TH, when we had a controlled bonfire and fireworks display! This was was amazing, and enjoyed by all.  Hot Dogs, Burgers, Soup and Carlins (black Peas) were enjoyed during and after the event.  Many thanks to Darryl and Friends for providing the fireworks, food and organising and controlling the event.  We very much appreciate you giving your time and effort.  Churchlakecare.com/chichester_hall/

Remembrance Sunday Chichester Hall Care and Residential Home in Cumbria

From the ooh’s and aah’s of the fireworks, we went into a quiet reflective mood with Remembrance week-end.  It was not possible to attend the organised service in Silloth as we have in years past, due to Covid-19.  So, we had our own little act of Remembrance, under the cherry tree on the front lawn, the weather was against us unfortunately.  As residents watched from the windows, a cross of poppies and other smaller crosses were laid, in respect of the fallen.  We would like to thank Shona at the local RAFA Club for ensuring we had poppies for the residents

Birthday Tea at Chichester Hall

On the 10th November all enjoyed a birthday tea for Iris.  This lovely lady was quite overwhelmed during a robust rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.  As requested, her daughter was sent photographs of the occasion, and was delighted to receive them.  I can envisage some great parties once this dreadful pandemic is over, but we must be patient.  We have been Covid free throughout and desperately hope to keep it so.  We will do everything possible to keep our lovely residents and staff safe, all of whom have continued to provide Negative test results.

Visiting at Chichester Hall

Visiting once again has had to be suspended during the last lockdown.  Cumbria is in tier 2.  We are at the moment re-organising safe visiting areas, and we await guidance on  ‘Rapid Testing’ from the Authorities.  Residents and family members have had to be separated for so long now.  New rapid testing is a glimmer of hope for them to be reunited before the holiday season.  Family members remain very supportive of the home and continue to keep in touch with their loved ones by Zoom, Whatsapp, telephone and by writing letters and cards

Christmas begins at Chichester Hall Care and Residential Home in Cumbria

Talking of the Christmas season, we have had to curtail our decorations this year, but we do have our usual tree in the lounge and dining room.  We have taken delivery of a 12 ft tree for outdoors.  Many many thanks to Jeff and Becky for delivering it to us, really a kind gesture, and to all at ‘Stribers Farm in Haverthwaite for choosing our tree.  It certainly is a beautiful specimen it’s the ‘Best one Yet ’all Brian has to do is decorate it !!  He has made a good job of re-decorating the dining room, it looks fresh and clean with new colourways, staff were very much involved in choosing the decoration

Sam, our artist, has done a great job with the windows, looking very festive!! Everyone loves them, big Thanks to Sam.

New colleague at Chichester Hall Care and Residential Home in Cumbria

We welcomed a new member of staff Michelle, we hope she enjoys working with the team at Chichester Hall.  Michelle has previous experience in care, and is proving a very popular member of the team.  We are also in the process of acquiring two cooks for the home, both are very excited about joining our team.  We look forward to many more scrumptious dishes.   Chichester hall welcomes them both.

Chichester Hall also welcomed a visit from Alan Jebson CEO and Neil Reid, Chief Operations Officer of Churchlake Care.  Staff and residents we delighted to put faces to names at last.  It has been very difficult for them to visit due to Covid-19 restrictions.  Thank you for coming, it was much appreciated.

It has been an eventful year, on so many levels, but we have worked together as a team to ensure everyone keeps safe.  We live in a stunning location, surrounded by special people, who make our lives worthwhile on a daily basis.  Someone recently said, ‘You are truly Blessed’.  We fully agree!

As we make our way into December we would like, to thank the many friends of Chichester Hall for all the kindnesses shown during the past long months of the pandemic.  We wish you all a ‘Peaceful and Safe and Happy  Christmas’ from all Residents and Staff at Chichester Hall.
