Starting off with decking the halls at Axbridge Court Nursing Home !
2020 has been a difficult year for all, so November was all about bringing the festivities to our home. It all started with the Christmas decorations! We are so proud of our stunning black coordinated tree. It lights up the corner of our gorgeous newly decorated dining room.
Father Christmas and his fellow Snowmen friends are also bringing festive cheer in. They have been around the home and individuals rooms. Bringing that festive feel with lights and decorations. We also have fabulous Christmas music playing. This brings fun and good spirits every day.
Our lounge is currently undergoing a refurbishment. Soon enough that will have a stunning coordinated tree as soon as we are able to use the room. Check out our photos on Churchlakecare.com/axbridge-court-care-home-in-axbridge/
Welcome to the New Team….
November also brought the first 2 new members of our soon to be 3 Activities Team.
Sue – Sue will be working 2 days per week. She will be offering residents lots of fun activities. Also, Sue will be providing their favourite sweets or snacks from the shop trolley. Residents have loved this as they are able to pop in their weekly requests. Sue is also an Holistic Therapist. Sue offers residents hand and feet Massages, Indian Head Massages and other Holistic therapies. As you can imagine, these are most enjoyed!
Lorraine – Lorraine will also be working 2 days per week. She will be offering residents creative and fun activities. Such as Bingo, Crafts and Games. Lorraine is an experienced Level 3 Health Care Assistant, and has spent many years taking part in activities.
Vandra – Our third and final member of the Activities team joins us in early December. Vandra is also an experienced Activities Coordinator. We know that she will bring extra fun and laughter to the team!
Full of hope for 2021 at Axbridge Court
Here at Axbridge Court, as we move into 2021 and away from the restrictions of Covid 19, our team will be working with the close community. We can’t wait to bring the outside world in, and get some all-important day trips out in the warmer months.
During November Sue and Lorraine have spent valuable time getting to know all our residents. They have taken time to learn about their lives and interests. This is often done over a game of Scrabble! We have a small group of ladies who love to play against each other, which we all know is great for the mind.
Sue also arranged the safe return of one of our well loved entertainers Maria. Maria brought happiness and high spirits. She filled the room with her wonderful renditions of classic songs. The pandemic has meant that we haven’t been able to enjoy our much loved entertainers. So, after many months without such events, it was great seeing them return. The protective screen had no impact on the performance. The joy of the music was felt right through the home.
Creative Crafts at Axbridge Court Nursing Home in Axbridge in Somerset
The final week of November saw some creative crafting. Several residents gathered round the table to make themselves a Christmas Penguin. They made the Penguins from out of black socks, Rice and coloured felt. Those that joined in took their festive friend back to their room.
