We have had a very busy and exciting month at Hillview. There have been plenty of activities laid on, including regular piano recitals with our new keyboard that was donated by Ramona, one of our wonderful carers. Music on the piano has ranged from traditional pub classics to classical, and hymns.

We have had several film showings, including a popular screening of the 1954 classic of ‘A Star is Born’, starring Judy Garland and James Mason.

Puzzles have also proved popular, including some specially adapted puzzles to meet the needs of our residents. These have included a reminiscence beach scene and an Australian sheepdog. We have also been looking through some special illustrated cat books, which have proved very popular.

A big highlight at the end of the month was a visit from Yannis, who performed an hour of traditional Greek dancing. Yannis was superb and was really engaged with our residents; he also got a number of our super staff up and dancing. Yannis also made a special visit to the room of one of our Greek residents, where they chatted to each other and reminisced about their homeland. We very much look forward to welcoming Yannis again.

Finally, on the 8th November, we are very excited to be holding our winter tea party and raffle, with entertainment provided by Brian Slade. Further updates about this event we come in the next Hillview news article.
