Green light for refurbishment at Chichester Hall Residential Care Home in Wigton

On the 8th March we had an introductory visit from our new Chief Operations Officer Mr Nick Farmer. It was good to welcome Nick to Chichester Hall. True to his word he made a second visit on the 18th March. Nick is very keen to start the refurbishment of the home. Now receiving approval of the Churchlake Board of Directors work can begin as soon as it can be arranged. We are very excited with the proposals and look forward to the home being given a facelift over the next 4 months. We will post photographs as work is undertaken, and of course at the end when all is finished.

Spring arrives at Chichester Hall Residential Care Home in Wigton

Ours grounds are looking lovely with daffodils on the drive and in our wild garden area. We did think the strong winds would damage them but luckily they survived the storms. Now, the bluebells are starting to flower so ‘Spring has really arrived at Chichester. It was reinforced when Chris, brought in two beautiful Pet Lambs for residents to see. Residents were asked to name them! Jack, and Jill, Bonny and Clyde, Tommy and Heather, William and Harry were all suggested, but we left it to Chris’s Son Jack to choose. There were some disparaging remarks passed, about Easter Sunday Lunch! These were met with laughter and distain in equal measure!
Census forms arrived.  We managed to get them all completed and sent off on time
Residents and some of the staff received their second dose of the Covid vaccine. Pleased to say we had no side effects amongst the residents, who took it all in their stride, as usual.

Sea air for lots of the residents at Chichester Hall Residential Care Home

During the warm spell, residents were able to take advantage of being outdoors. Mandy and Paul escorting them down for some longed for fresh air onto the shore and into the garden. It was a pleasure to see how much they enjoyed the outdoors. There seemed to be a constant stream of wheelchairs on the sea front. Those who didn’t want to venture out were treated to sing songs and chair exercises
Three of our staff are hoping to sign for their level 3 diploma, with Lakes college in Workington. We wish them well with their studies, and assure them of our full support
It has been a challenging time. We can now see changes coming very soon with visiting arrangements soon to be increased. We look forward to seeing visitors in the home again. Residents have been apart from their loved ones for a long time, and are eager to renew their relationships with family and friends
The home had an announced CQC Infection Control Inspection on the 23rd March. We are pleased to tell you that it was a very positive report. The inspector was pleased with all the effort from staff during the Pandemic and with all the procedures that are in place
Sadly we had to say goodbye to one of our dear ladies. We send our sincere condolences to her family and many friends, she is greatly missed by us all.

Easter preparations were good fun. The residents tucked into a fish and chip Good Friday lunch, from the local chippy,
On the Saturday we decorated our Easter tree. It looked quite lovely in the dining room, with little chicks and feather wings glittering with fairy lights
Lauren and Andrea excelled in baking cakes, biscuits and cheesecakes. Lou and Darryl bought chocolate rabbits for all the residents. Mandy bought Easter eggs.
